How to Play

Your objective in The Buzzer Game is straightforward: guide the metal hoop from one end of the wire to the other without touching the wire itself. If the hoop contacts the wire, the buzzer will sound, signaling that you’ve lost a life and must restart the level. Unlike some games, there is no time limit for each level, but your performance will be rewarded with bonus points if you complete a level in under 30 seconds. Specifically, you’ll earn 1 point for every second remaining on the bonus clock. Remember, you have only three lives to complete the game, and there are no opportunities to earn extra lives.

Controls

The game utilizes your mouse as the sole control. Start each level by clicking the green circle on the left end of the wire. Once activated, the hoop will follow your mouse movements; you don’t need to hold down the mouse button. Just move your cursor smoothly to guide the hoop along the wire, finishing the level by crossing the red circle at the opposite end.

Distractions

Starting at level 3, the Techo will introduce distractions every 7-10 seconds in an attempt to throw you off your game. The most common distraction is a series of random noises, so consider muting your computer while playing. The Techo may also make faces at you, glow red-eyed, or stick out his tongue. Occasionally, a Chokato fruit may fall from the top of the screen behind the wire, or Ollie, the Phantom Orange Shirt Guy, may make a brief appearance.

Scoring

Completing each level earns you points ranging from 20 to 50, as outlined in the table below. To achieve an avatar, you will need to accumulate a total of 300 points across the levels. If you do not earn any bonus points during the game, you will need to complete 11 levels to receive the avatar. Note that there are no bonus points awarded for remaining lives at the end of the game.

Strategy

To enhance your chances of success, here are a couple of strategies:

  • Cheat Code: Enter the cheat code cheese at the start of the game to display your mouse cursor throughout the gameplay. This makes it much easier to guide the hoop along the wire, as you can directly see your position.
  • Take Your Time: It’s essential to play each level slowly and carefully. Rushing through can lead to mistakes and the loss of lives. Remember, a steady hand is key!

Quick Tips

  • Mute your computer to reduce in-game distractions.
  • Zoom in on your browser window (usually through View > Zoom In) to make the game area larger, providing more room for error.
  • Type the cheat code cheese at the beginning of the game to display the cursor.
  • Type the cheat code salamander while the timer is running to skip a level; however, you will not earn points for skipped levels.
  • On level 13, you can bypass the entire loop by simply following the wire to the right at the intersection.
  • If the bonus timer reaches zero and you lose a life, it resets to 30 points. You can only use this trick twice per game.

Level Solutions

There are a total of fifteen levels in The Buzzer Game. Completing all levels may not be necessary to achieve the avatar, especially if you earn bonus points along the way.

Fun Fact

The Buzzer Game was created by Ollie, also known as the Phantom Orange Shirt Guy. He may make a rare appearance during gameplay, adding to the distractions!
