Secret Lab Neopets Guide

The Secret Lab is a very “rare” place. Many people have heard about it, but have never seen it for themselves. It’s always the veteran Neopians who’ve seen and have access to this “legendary” place.Today, we’ll see what this fabled place really is… The Secret Laboratory, is owned by this guy pictured below…

Image

An obviously demented Scorchio who’s been alone for far too long. He built this “mystical” device to keep him occupied, and with the rumors going around about it.. He’ll have plenty of company. Now, keep in mind, this “holy” Ray isn’t as good as people make it sound, should you venture into the Laboratory, you may regret it once you drag your weak and fragile pet out. The Ray is a combination of good and evil, just because you gained four levels or your pitiful Bruce got transformed into a Jetsam, doesn’t mean it’ll happen again.. Next time around, your pets level could be reduced back to Level 1 or your powerful Darigan Aisha turned into a useless Blue Chia.. Use at your own risk.

The Neopets Lab Ray can have various awesome effects or extremely disastrous results. Here’s a small list of what this unstable device may do..

(See Source 1 for information below in italics.)

  • Your pet can gain or lose levels (2 levels at a time)
  • Your pet can gain or lose strength points (2 or 3 points at a time)
  • Your pet can gain or lose defence points (2 or 3 points at a time)
  • Your pet can gain or lose movement points (2 or 3 points at a time)
  • Your pet can gain hitpoints (2, 3, 4, or 5 points at a time)
  • Your pet’s level can go back to level 1 (if your pet is level 20 or below)
  • Nothing happens

Please Note: What the lab ray cannot change your pet into is an Ice Bori. The Ice Bori is a special Neopets Promo only pet. Other than that the Lab Ray can do any color, except Usuki, Quiguki, Royal, Pirate, Plushie and Baby. This was confirmed in Neopets Magazine #4.
Also Note: You can NOT get Draiks or Krawks from the Lab Ray! This is so you won’t get a rare pet by a lucky zap when others have spent millions.. ( Thanks to Elite/Jon! )

Now, some of you are probably thinking that your don’t wish to risk all of your hard work just to see something cool happen. I agree, then don’t just save up and save up until you can afford the pet of your dreams. Yet, if you’re like me at times, willing to risk it all, then please, follow along. Now, to those of you who have nothing to lose, I bet you’re wondering, How do I get to this Lab Ray? Well, just be cool, I’m getting there.

Where Is the Secret Lab Neopets?

That is a mystery. The Lab Ray isn’t for little noobs who offer 1000 Neopoints for access to this “magical and pwnsome” place. You’re going to need to save up for access to the secret lab neopets. There are nine map peices that need to be purchased and stored within your Safety Deposit Box until you’ve bought them all. The estimated price on the Trading Post for the whole set will range from 860,000 to 1,350,000 Neopoints. So, be prepared to spend.. Here’s each peice that you’ll need to purchase.

Unfortunately, it’ll be hard to keep track of.. Seeing as Neo didn’t number the damned peices, you might accidentally be buying the same piece twice, so pay close attention to which ones you are buying. Once you have all nine pieces, within your inventory of course, you’ll need to go here to assemble them.

WARNING!
If you click the link, and your map is assembled, it will remain there permanently! You will no longer be able to sell or trade it, it’s there for good!!

Is It Worth it?

This is your personal decision, no one is going to sue you for not buying it from them after asking for a price.. Well, a noob would report you for lying/scamming.. But that’s just the way Neo is now, ruined by noobs. Anyways, think about this simple question.

” Why do I NEED the Lab Ray?”

Once your answer that, you’ll have your question. Most people answer like this, ” I want better stats!” or ” I want a rare pet with an even rarer color!” Like I said earlier, could you live knowing your hard-earned Darigan Draik turned into a useless along with hideous Blue Chia? Just answer that, then you’ll know whether it is or not.

Rewards…?!

Acquiring Map Pieces

The quest for map pieces can be both exciting and challenging. Here are some ways to obtain these elusive fragments:

  • Random Events: A rare random event might reward you with one of the nine map pieces.
  • Tarla’s Non-Toolbar Treasures: Daily prizes from Tarla’s Non-Toolbar Treasures can include one of three map pieces.
  • Wheel of Extravagance: Spin the wheel for a chance to win a map piece.
  • Creative Contests: Participate in Creative Contests for a shot at acquiring a map piece.
  • Referral Programme: After referring 250 people through the Referral Programme, you can receive the full set of map pieces.

While some map pieces can be obtained through these methods, completing the set on your own might take years. Be prepared to purchase a few pieces from other players if you’re eager to unlock the secrets of the Lab Ray sooner.

Crafting the Map

Once you have all nine map pieces, assemble them, and witness the creation of the Secret Laboratory Map. Unfortunately, similar to other treasure maps, handing in the pieces is irreversible. Once you’ve embarked on the journey to the Lab Ray, there’s no turning back.

Navigating the Lab Ray

Accessing the Lab

After turning in the map pieces, you can access the Lab Ray here. Bookmark this link for easy use, as the lab does not appear on world maps or other pages.

Zapping Your Pet

With permanent access to the Lab Ray, you’re granted one zap per account per day. You can choose any of your Neopets for transformation. Remember, the Lab Ray doesn’t award Neopoints, so you’re allowed to complete the map and use the Ray on multiple accounts. Neopoints earned to buy the Lab Map on your main account can be used to send pieces to side accounts.

Lab Ray Outcomes

The Lab Ray introduces an element of unpredictability to your Neopet’s life. Possible outcomes include:

  • Stat changes (strength, defense, movement, hit points, level)
  • Changes in appearance (gender, color, species)
  • No change at all (for pets with already low stats)

Each outcome has its own probability, and the Lab Ray Logger has been a valuable tool in estimating these probabilities. Note that some outcomes, such as species changes, may even earn you exclusive avatars.

Exclusive Colors and Wearables

The Lab Ray unlocks exclusive colors, including Burlap, Ice, Mosaic, MSP, Robot, and Sponge. While certain colors are considered Lab Ray exclusives, exceptions exist. For example, the One-Use Robotification Zappermajig and the “Colour it Wild” perk from Charity Corner offer alternative paths to specific colors.

In the realm of wearables, the Lab Ray ensures that no items are lost during the transformation process. Your pet’s clothing will be returned to your closet if a species or color change triggers the availability of paint brush clothing.

The Lab Ray Scientist and Battledome Challenges

Unlocking the Lab Ray introduces you to the Lab Ray Scientist, a formidable opponent in the Battledome. Refresh at the “Select a Pet” page to encounter this challenger. The Lab Ray Scientist is known for using the Strange Potion, which can change the gender of the pet it targets. Battling in the Battledome can only be done on your main account.

Navigating Restrictions

While the Lab Ray opens new possibilities, there are certain restrictions:

  • Seven colors cannot be obtained through the Lab Ray, requiring alternative methods.
  • Four species (Draik, Krawk, Ixi, Tonu) cannot be obtained through the Lab Ray.
  • Intelligence, height, weight, age, mood, and hunger remain unaffected by the Lab Ray.
  • The Lab Ray doesn’t impact your petpet; for that, consider the Petpet Lab Ray.

Final Thoughts

The Secret Laboratory is a realm of mystery and transformation. Use this guide to navigate its secrets and embrace the unpredictability that comes with the Lab Ray. Your Neopets are on the brink of exciting changes—may your journey be filled with wonder and discovery in the enchanting world of Neopia!
