1. Download and install an older version of your favourite browser
(or a totally different one) that still supports Flash and
that you will only use for running Flash content
(e.g. games) and turn its auto-updates off.
2. Download and install a Flash version prior to 32.0.0.3xx and disable its auto-updates.
3. If you are using Windows keep reading, otherwise the first 2 steps will suffice.
4. Microsoft will disable Flash completely through one of their optional updates that
was announced for next summer but is already available via the Microsoft Catalog. If you
decide to install the specified update (KB4577586) but would still like to run flash
content you will need to run a different OS or even an outdated version of Windows in
environments such as VMware before doing steps 1. and 2.Disable internet connection *before* running the installers
as some browsers (and possibly some Flash versions) auto-update during
the installation process, which we are trying to avoid.
Flash auto-updates can be disabled by selecting Never check for updates
at the end of the installation process.
See your chosen browser’s manual/docs for info on how to turn off its auto-updates.
On Jan 21st 2021, the Neopets games stopped working on
Opera for unknown reasons, however the browser is still
able to run games from other sites as well as other flash content.
Also, note that each major browser has a different plug-in
architecture, which means that there’s a unique version of Flash Player
for it: ActiveX is for Internet Explorer, NPAPI is for Firefox and other
NPAPI-based browsers, while PPAPI is for Google Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers.
